Residential
Services
The Residential
Services department of the Salvation Army Community Centre is
responsible for the men's hostel,
12 transitional housing rooms,
2 youth beds, 1 mental
health room, and rooms for our long
term residents. Our staff also provides security for the
rest of the building 24 hours a day, assists in half-way
house, probation,
and e.m.,
monitoring, and helps facilitate people signing up and keeps
track of clients using our meal
program.
Our rates
are $30 for the men's hostel for one
night or $73.75 per week. If a client is unable to pay, we approve
one nights stay with breakfast in the morning. In the event
the client checks in on a weekend, we let them stay with us
until Monday morning breakfast. The client would then be directed
to either the Ministry
of Social Services or their band for further funding if
needed.
Rates
for our rooms are dependent on the room size and on whether
or not it is private or semi-private room. Cost range from $295/month
to $395/month and are made available to clients who have been
staying in our dorms or are transitioning from the half-way
house and have not been able to found suitable housing yet.
The
epicentre of Residential Services is our Front Desk which is
staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The staff that work
at this desk are responsible for the security of the building,
ensuring conditions that the court has placed on a client are
followed, baggage checks, first aid, and keeping accurate records
for our residents and those that come for meals.
Depending
on the time of day, the staff who work at the Front Desk also
help people coming in off the streets who are in the need of
food, emergency help, or just need to talk.
